TGIF--The 18 day of the second month of Emergence

Remember, if you double click on the images on this blog you will get to a full screen of the photo.

Now!

If you take a lot of pictures, I suggest that you record what you saw the same day that you made the image.

I just spent the morning going through all my images of butterflies.  One web site had 54 pages of pictures and names with sixty images per page.  That's, lets see, 54 times sixty, carry the one, divide by 12, push the three, subtract 42----and you begin to get the idea that I had no idea how many of these darn things there are.

You do the math!

I did get most of them named or as close as I can tell because so many of them look alike, except for an under wing or something I didn't notice before that made it something else.

So much easier to just take the photos, but then somebody actually wants to buy something that you think you might have.  Then you go to the files and are simply bewildered!  I am warning you right now.  There is going to be a major re-organization of the files coming.  That means you are going to simply have to put up with my whining!  For a long time!

A Gulf Fritillary..............I think!

At least it's a flight shot!

The eleventh day of the second month of the year of Emergence

Hard to tell that spring is on it's way in any part of the country.  Even here, it's twenty eight degrees this morning..............brrrrrrrrrrr!  But these guys seem to know something.  Couple of flocks migrating through.

The 10th day of the second month of the year of Emergence

I just filled an inquiry from a publisher looking for butterflies of all things.  Glad I had a few but don't know if he will buy any at this point.  Did not snow here last night and warming up nicely.  Still tied behind the desk but sold two major pieces yesterday up in Maryland.  Life's good.  Just a lovable old fuzzball looking for victims.  Have a great day!

Remember, you can double click on these for full screen.  Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhoooooooooooooo!

These are  only four of the couple of dozen I sent out.  Most are vertical....Why?  Because he is looking for magazine covers as well, and covers pay more....both back and front.  So if you are in the biz or thinking about it............always, always make vertical shots as best you can for each and every horizontal you take.

The 9th day of the second month of the year of emergence

I think that the only other critter, size for size, that has larger tongue is the Giraffe.

The 8th of the second month of the year of Emergence

This is my orange Mocking Bird

This guy has single handidly demolished a half of an orange in a little over a week.  I put the oranges out to attract orioles but so far no luck.  But the Mocker, well he's another story.  Just loves it.  Now if I could teach him to fight with the squirrels and keep them away, well then we'd have something.  In the fifties today and tomorrow and then some snow showers on Thursday.

The seventh day of the second month of the year of Emergence

On my last entry I had the chance to talk a little bit about family and that got me to thinking that I have to get back to working on the family tree.  My sister is bugging me about the work I have done in the past, which is incomplete, and my son has all of a sudden taken an interest.  So this past weekend, instead of super bowl preparations I worked on the tree.  I have concluded that I am going to do a good job on it and follow all the branches back to when we lived in them.

The first "Willits" was born in 1618 and immigrated to this country from England.  So I have to go back a bit further to find the fellow in this photo.  I don't know how we got to Florida, along the Silver River, where I photographed this wild ancestor.  I understand he and some of his family escaped a movie set back in the 40's.  Probably a Tarzan movie.  Wow, I may be related to someone who actually worked with Tarzan....imagine that!

You know, most people have horse thieves and other famous criminals in their closets.  Me, I got monkeys!  I guess I'll have to get a lot further back than the 17th century to find out.

I think that I would much prefer to be the way way distant offspring of this fellow at Disney in Florida.  He is much more intimidating than the really wild ancestors in the first two photos.

And, he must have negotiated a great contract with those in Walt's family tree.  Much higher up on the food chain.  Yeah, maybe that's where I'll find the rest of the family after all they are so much bigger and obviously smarter.  Not that I am related to Walt Disney in any way, but I'm just sayin.

The fifth day of the second month of the year of emergence

I have been a bit lax of late in making entries on this blog.  Just not the inspiration and I cannot imagine those that must come up with an article every day for newspapers and other publications.  It gives one a whole new viewpoint and a certain amount of respect for those people who publish legitimate newsworthy stuff.

Inspiration, at least for me, comes from a great number of different places and things.  Yesterday, I was in my favorite greeting card place (the supermarket) looking for valentine's cards for my grands.

Now, this is not a simple matter for a person who honestly believes that Valentines day was created by the Hallmark Card company as another way to sell cards.  No cynicism here!

It's a wonder that they haven't caught onto groundhog day yet.  Hey "Happy ground hogs day".  "Yeah thanks, there's now going to be six more years of winter."  "Right, have a good one!"  Oh, and I spent $3.95 for a piece of paper and envelope for you.  Send it to the Corporate Treasurers office and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out!  OK, maybe I am a little cynical, but I did put a good bit into choosing just the right cards for each of them.

Seriously, it's gotten so that if you don't have a card for each loved one, chocolates, roses, and diamonds-----well, your viewed as being right up there with most serial killers and ranking below used car salesmen and lawyers.

Well, I do have four good excuses to go out a file for a second mortgage to buy four cards for my grands.  I mean who could resist with kids like my kids have.  I love them all, but am especially fond of a young lady who was born in 1999.  This is Emily!

If any of my grand kids will ever end up in the public eye, this will be the one.  Got a mind of her own which she exercises when she wants and not when someone else wants.  She probably has a little bit of me in her in that respect.  Lord help her she'll probably become a politician, go to Hollywood, or walk the walk of a model.  Love her to pieces!
