A friend and a friend of a dear friend passed away yesterday. Gov. Donald Schaefer of Maryland is now plugging potholes on the road to heaven. He was a great Governor for the state and particularly active in all politics in the state. You may have not liked his politics, but he was one of the old line Democrats who told it like it was. You always knew where you stood with him and he was a fine man. I had the privilege of presenting the Governor with a signed and framed print of the "Lighthouses of Maryland" when it was first published. His personality will be sorely missed.
