The fifth day of the third month of the year of the Camellia

ANOTHER BACK YARD BUDDY

Ruby-crowned Kinglet

When I first saw one of these guys, I thought it was some unique find until I checked the bird books. A pretty common individual in southern part of the country and along the coast up as far as Virginia. This is a small bird about the size of a canary and most of the time is rather drab. That is until he gets excited. Then the crown comes up.

I have been trying to find one close enough to photograph with the crown and yesterday I got him. No doubt about it. Bait them and they will come.
